Dual Dialogue

What does it do?

Have two characters that need to speak                        Sometimes two people need to speak at 
at the same?                                                                    once.
Oh, were you going to say something?                          Go ahead, you can tell them.

Dual Dialogue is an easy way to demonstrate that moment when both people need to share their perspective. This feature can be activated while typing new dialogue in the script, or retroactively to convert previously typed dialogue to the Dual Dialogue format.

*NOTE: This format will only work for one segment of Dialogue at a time. Unlike writing normal Dialogue, you will need to reactivate Dual Dialogue each time you hit Enter.


Activate Dual Dialogue for New Text

  1. Select Format > Dual Dialogue
    1. Ctrl/Cmd+D
  2. Enter desired Character name and dialogue.
  3. Move to next column
    1. Down Arrow to navigate to the next column
    2. Click with mouse to navigate to the next column.
  4. Enter desired Character name and dialogue for second character.
  5. Press Enter to continue with the script.


Activate Dual Dialogue for Existing Text

  1. Place cursor on the first line of the desired Dual Dialogue section. 
    1. Dialogue of the next Character in the script will also be moved to the Dual Dialogue section. 
  2. Select Format > Dual Dialogue
    1. Ctrl/Cmd+D
  3. Move to next column
    1. Down Arrow to navigate to the next column
    2. Click with mouse to navigate to the next column.
  4. Press Enter to continue with the script.


Undo Dual Dialogue

This will revert back to the original formatting.

  1. If Dual Dialogue was just created
    1. Select Edit > Undo
    2. Ctrl/Cmd+Z
  2. Dialogue will revert back to original formatting.

OR

  1. Click anywhere in the Dual Dialogue section
  2. Select Format > Dual Dialogue
    1. Ctrl/Cmd+D
  3. Dialogue will revert back to original formatting.
