Dual Dialogue

Dual dialogue is used when two characters are speaking at the same time. This feature can be activated while typing new dialogue in the script, or retroactively to convert previously typed dialogue to the Dual Dialogue format.

To Activate Dual Dialogue for new text:

  1. Select Format > Dual Dialogue, or use keyboard shortcut (Cmd/Ctrl+D), or click the shortcut icon in the bottom left toolbar .
  2. Enter desired Character name and dialogue.
  3. Use arrow keys; select down arrow to navigate to next Character space/column, or click with mouse to navigate to next column.
  4. Enter desired Character name and dialogue for second character.
  5. Press Enter to continue with script.

To activate Dual Dialogue for already entered text:

  1. Place cursor on the first line of the desired Dual Dialogue section. The Dialogue of the next Character in the script will also be moved to the Dual Dialogue section.
  2. Format > Dual Dialogue, keyboard shortcut (Cmd/Ctrl+D), or click on the shortcut icon in the bottom left toolbar.
  3. Use the arrow keys to navigate between the Dual Dialogue sections.

To undo Dual Dialogue if dual dialogue is mistakenly enabled or needs to be changed back to the regular Dialogue format:

  • If detected immediately after activated, ‘Undo’ will revert to the previous format.

OR

  • Click anywhere in the Dual Dialogue section and select Format > Dual Dialogue, use keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+D), or click on the shortcut icon on the toolbar . This will change the format back to regular Dialogue format.

NOTE: This format will only work for one segment of Dialogue at a time. Unlike writing normal Dialogue, you will need to reactivate Dual Dialogue each time you hit Enter.
